VGJ from the station "Göteborg Västgöta" located at Lilla Bommen, were the bridge over the river Göta Älv today is located.

In 1932 a new station were built at the Göteborg Centralstation (beside today's track 1). At the same time new roundhouses were built at the new station.
Before 1932, the work shops and roundhouses were located at the yard at Marieholm, about 2 km along the line.

When the railroad were closed in 1967 the new tracks for the tram to Angered was built on the old railroad.

On VGJ the different stations were classified into different classes, class 1-4. Göteborg was the only class 1 station on the railroad. Stops like Lärje, Björsared, Kvarnabo etc. was class 4.

At Gråbo, Björboholm and Sjövik small villages was built up round a railway station and during the summertimes many families moved out from Göteborg and lived there.

At the station of Björboholm it was a special waiting room for passenger in the 2nd class. The railway company also built a watchtower and a restaurant in a very scenic area in their efforts to draw tourists to the "Sunday special trains".

From Sjövik to Göteborg there were for a long period extensive commuting. Local cummuter train, often with many coaches, operated the section between Sjövik to Göteborg.

The railroad Vara - Skara

After Vara the railroad made a turn south - it so called "Hovskroken" before it set direction again towards Skara.

This is a very rich and fertile earth and is dominated by it's many farms. Near the station of Kålltorps is three larger estates located; Blombacka, (3 km east of the station), Stora Kålltorp (2 km west of the station) and Kilagården (2,5 km west of the station). All three owner had been very active when the railroad company was started and they are all share holders in the company. The station is also called "the landowner station".

At the station of Skara, a large junction with 5 connecting railroads, there is a large roundhouse, a turntable, works shops and a seperate building for the railcars.

Skara were, beside Göteborg, the largest station on VGJ and all maintenance on the railcars and for most of the engines and coaches were provided here.

Skara was the center of the railcars operations. Here is type YB05p railcars.
