Anten-Gräfsnäs Vintage Railroad – AGJ – is a 12 km long (and mostly 891 mm, or 3 Swedish feet, wide) living museum run as a non-profit corporation.

The Museum is run by association members who use their leisure time to create an environment for people today to experience yesterday’s technology and way of life.

The train departs from Anten (10 km NW of Alingsås) where the station has been renovated in 1930s style.

First stop, Kvarnabo! In Kvarnabo you can climb off the train to watch the “water horse” refill the water tank on the engine. While the tank is being filled, we will tell you more about the railroad.

Nyheter

It's easy to think that 50-60 years is not a very long time, but when you have been here you understand how long time it is.

Continuing on the journey, we head through the beautiful countryside along Anten Lake towards Gräfsnäs Castle Park. If you are lucky, you may see some the swans that give the lake its name. (Anten Lake = Old Swedish name for Swan Lake).

Arriving in Gräfsnäs, the train stops at the station and the passengers disembark. Now it’s time to head to the park with its beach, playgrounds and castle ruins.

It may not seem like 60-70 years are a long time, but after visiting AGJ you will better appreciate the development from the 1940s onward.

Mobility impaired individuals can come along and enjoy the ride! One of our cars is equipped with wheelchair lifts and we have space for 10-12 wheelchairs.
